According to the construction number, Race #7 the Roto-Finish Bearcat is one of the earliest production Bearcats still existing. The first owner was ED Weiner who bought it in 1959 and registered it as N6624C that same year...

The July 1984 issue of the National Air Racing group's 'Nag-Rag' newsletter gave a brief mention via member - Bill Miller, that old veteran Hawker Sea Fury - N878M's rebuild back to flying status as a new racer for owner/pilot Jim Mott was "coming along nicely and was intended to have a P&W R-4360!"

Thanks to new co-owners Stephen Bolander and James Michaels, and to Sea Fury gurus- Brian & Dennis Sanders at Sanders Aeronautics who are expertly race-prepping their bird accurately back into its original colorful scheme as the very first Sea Fury ever to race as an Unlimited - N878M will again return to competition this year at R2K.

To all those attending or following the results of that first year of Post-WW2 pylon racing at Cleveland, it was obvious by the fighter aircraft types on hand to compete, the event was for the most part - an All-Air Force Show in the racing department. Race #57 Flying A "Full-Circle Through Time" Maneuver

It was almost as if Voodoo's powerful forces had worked up some REAL MAGIC this time, by opening the Door to the Past just long enough to let one of it's own fly through into the Present. There- setting up for final approach for landing on Runway 8, was Ben McKillen's old & bold- #57 F2G Super Corsair racer!
